If I read the bracket correctly, Wagner's/Sports 55 won their first bracket game 5-2 over Florida Storm Shepard. They play Oklahoma Force tomorrow. Glory Gold defeated Oregon Silver Bullets 5-4. They play LA VooDoo tomorrow. Ashburn Shooting Stars defeated American Athletics 5-4. They're playing Originals Gold now (or soon). Newtown Rock, TNT and NJ Breakers are playing now or soon in their first game. tournamentasa.com/i!/brackets/Results.php?TID=629&BSID=1776

How exciting for these young ladies, their parents and coaches to be playing in OK. Watched GGold play earlier on the ASA website and saw MD Sherwood rising senior Kelsey Lineberger hit a two run homer and then walked in a run for the win. I know there are also a couple MD girls on the Breakers, as well as Wagners so hoping to see some more action in the next few days. Of course, wishing that we were all watching softball in London for the 2012 Olympics as well..sigh....

Hello All, Newtown Rock and TNT still in ASA Gold Tournament and this morning both teams have one loss under their belts. Each team plays a TX team at 10:30 and if they survive will then play each other @ 2:30 today. Unfortunately, the other 4 we have been following Wagners, Ashburn SS, Glory G and NJ Breakers have closed the chapter on this Gold tournament. Good Luck to both teams and we will see if one of our East Coast teams can take it all the way!!!

NSA Worlds in Spartanburg- 12U LSL, 14U Chill Black, 16U RB Spirit all lost their 2nd elimination game last night and are out. They had a decent go and should fall somewhere in the middle of the pack. The VA Crushers 12U are still in it with one loss. They are playing right now. If they win, they make final 4 and play at 1:00. They have one heck of a pitcher!
Good luck to all the ladies playing in the PONY and USSSA Nationals that begin this weekend! Stay cool and have fun!!!
QUICK UPDATE: Crushers lost.

Down to six at ASA Gold Nationals. Unfortunately, the teams my softball seamheads and I have been following, have headed back home but there is still game action today for those die hard fans that love the game whoever is playing. The six remaining teams are So Cal Athletics, Az Desert Thunder (both remain in winners bracket) and Atlanta Vipers(still East Coast), Ok Athletics and two Tx teams remain in losers bracket battle. ASA Gold still will be having live streaming videos today all the way to the Championship Games. Congratulations to our hometown girls and friends who made it out to OK for an event of a life time!!!

AZ Desert Thunder Gold wins 18U Gold Nationals. They played TX Impact for the win (2-1) and had to play them twice as they rose from the ashes in the Losers Bracket. Do we have any MD teams that we would put our money on to make it to Gold Nationals next year? This post was corrected today and I am sorry I didn't verify before printing. New hospital shift, getting old, misreading text, lack of sleep not sure what to blame it on so I will say oops. The above information is correct!

I thought that bracket I looked at had Texas Impact beating Arizona Thunder Heat in the first game 5-0, but Arizona winning the "if game" 2-1. Is that wrong?

Surfishin, I apologize for the serious blunder.
TX Impacts wins 1st game 6 0
Arizona wins "if" game and takes home the Gold and the Championship!!!

No apology required. That 73 team bracket was brutal to follow on an I-phone.

Some good softball being played at the Botetourt complex in VA. Women's World Series featuring players like Melanie Mitchell, Fagan sisters, Czechner, Ashlyn Williams, Amber Jackson, etc.

Maryland Hornets with a great showing in Botetourt finishing 3rd behind Virginia Legends and USSSA Pride. Legends and Pride both featured players from throughout the country while the Hornets were strictly a local Maryland team. Congrats to the Hornets for a job well done.

Well, now that most people's season's have concluded, what was the good, bad and the ugly (mostly good I hope)? What tournaments stuck out as a "thumbs up"?
