My daughter attended the Coppin camp on Saturday. It was well run. The Coppin players had great attitudes and worked very well with the attendees. Coach Fefel and Coach Hineline are very knowlegeable and did well with diverse talent pool. The second camp is on 10/23 at Coppin.

I agree with heavy. My DD had a great time at the camp and is looking forward to attending the next one. I have my fingers crossed its another nice day. Both coaches were great with the girls and the players were very encouraging as well.

We attended the Maryland-Towson game. I'll piggyback on what GW said (I don't want to post in his thread since it isn't Ask the LSL Dad).
Kretschman appears to be a paid cheerleader. She leads the "clapping" cheers. She is also responsible for using her stopwatch to time the "coming down" throw every inning (the numbers by the catcher were impressive). At one point, she attempted to position the CF. She wanted the CF playing shallow and towards LC. Watten wanted the CF playing deep and straight away. The CF didn't move from where Kretshcman positioned her, so Watten took a trip to the circle and called the outfield in too. The CF was playing deep and straight away after that. The batter hit it deep and towards LC, so I guess both coaches were right.
Morgan appeared to be all business. I know she is the pitching coach, but you would think they would want her working with the hitters too. She might do that in practice, but during the game she was a pitching coach only.
In my opinion, the most exciting part of the game was the base umpire falling while running to get in position at second base for a hit by one of the Maryland players. The home plate umpire thought it was quite funny when I said it looked the base umpire was in a Buffalo Wild Wings commercial and somebody raised the sprinklers.
All of the above is from only watching one game. Things might have been different for the other games. This is also my opinion of what I saw, so take it for what it is worth.

Anyone else hearing that Coach Watten has another pitcher transferring to Maryland in January ... I know she had opportunities to get a good transfer in the summer and she dropped the ball by not communicating.

Dear Quick Feet, one of the many knocks on this Coach is the she is inaccessible. Recruiting is not her strong suit and she doesn't communicate well with prospective players. She does spend a lot of time on her cell phone or blackberry texting somebody. She is probably talking to her next batch of coaches. They don't seem to stay too long with her. One thing I have learned by watching the Maryland team is that they are not well coached on the field so maybe that search is well founded. Defender of the Recruiting Process

I know she had opportunities to get a good transfer in the summer and she dropped the ball by not communicating. You must be talking about Ali Schmidt ... Easton HS/Wagner's/Philadelphia University ... who has transferred to the University of Central Florida and will play for them this spring !!!
