GW, So it sounds like to me, if you wanted to get recruited and play at the UMD, the #1 criteria is an unlimited texting plan. That way you have your best shot at contacting Coach Watten.

Anyone else hearing that Coach Watten has another pitcher transferring to Maryland in January ... Alison Owen - A transfer from University of Georgia... I hadn't heard that Alison had made her final decision yet, but she is interested and has been....obviously she would be a tremendous asset to the program and have an immediate impact! Hope we see her as a Terp in the spring!

Surfishin, I like your perspective. The trouble with your logic is that the recipients of the text messages are not recruits. She is apparently setting up social engagements for that evening. OpticY, I admire your excitement for the Terps even in the face of what is a raw deal. If that girl knows what's good for her she will make her decision wisely.

Sounds like Emily Weiman did a great job against the NPF! Glad to hear it.

Kudos to Emily Weiman. It is great to see a local kid do well. It is unfortunate that this local kid would have given her best "screwball" to be able to attend Maryland. She attended numerous camps down there and was very overt in her desire to be a Terp. The recruiting process or lack of it at Maryland left this young lady to explore other opportunities, while all the while waiting for the call from Coach Watten. I think this says it all about what they are thinking down there (or not thinking). Get verbals from C conference pitchers, but let the best pitcher in Maryland get away. I am sure that if some of that texting had been directed Ms. Weiman's way she would be pitching for Maryland today. Defender of the Verizon Cell Phone Plan

Any update on Alison Owen coming to Maryland this spring? Was told that she visited an SEC school last weekend ... If she goes the SEC transfer route, she'd have to sit a year !!!
