I am currently in search of a team that is looking for a coach! I have included my softball playing and coaching bio. Please feel free to contact me. My cell # 443-752-3001
Cara Testerman is a Harford County native where she started playing softball when she was 5 years old. Cara began her softball career as an infielder and pitcher, taking pitching lessons from Kelly Anne Keifer (a former starting pitcher at Kutztown University). As a young teen, Cara played on two local club teams as a starter, the Jarrettsville Jazz and the Harford Cyclones While playing for the Cyclones, she pitched the winning game to clinch a World Series spot for the Cyclones. Cara also received multiple MVA awards and Sportsmanship Awards. She was a three year varsity starter for North Harford High School where she mastered the catching position. While at NHHS, she received All County honors during her junior and senior years and was also interviewed by the local news station after a win over Bel Air High School her junior year. Cara is a natural leader and was team captain of all teams on which she played.
Cara was quickly spotted by Messiah College in Grantham, PA and secured a starting catcher position with the team while she maintained her studies as a Social Work major. While a student-athlete at Messiah College, Cara and the Falcons instructed the youth in several all-skills clinics, pitching lessons, catching lessons, and hitting clinics. This is where Cara’s passion for coaching surfaced.
In 2012, Cara applied for an Assistant Varsity Coaching position with North Harford High School where she was initially hired as Coach Testerman, a pitching and catching coach. The Athletic Director and coaching staff quickly realized Cara’s talents were best used assisted the entire team.
In 2013, she was asked to step up and take over the role of Varsity Head Coach. Of course she gladly accepted. This year, two of Coach Testerman’s players made First Team All-County and one player made Honorable Mention.
During the 2014 season, Cara led the Hawks to a 14-6 season placing them third in the division and seeding first in the playoffs. This season, three of her players had the highest batting averages that North Harford had seen in years; .508, .500, .438, and .386. Three of these players made First Team All-County, one making honorable mention. The Hawk’s pitcher maintained a 1.54ERA and made First Team All-District, First Team All-County, and Second Team All-Metro. The 2014 Hawks were also nominated and won their division’s Sportsmanship Award and were recognized at a Board of Education Meeting in June of 2014.
Coach Testerman is currently the Head Coach of the Hurricanes (a U18 club team out of York, PA), Assistant Coach of the Thunder (a U16 team out of Street, MD), and running skills clinics, private hitting lessons, and private catching lessons.
Coach Testerman has a passion for softball that pours out of every aspect of her coaching and interactions with her players. Her love for the game and instructing the youth is contagious and benefits every player in which she comes in contact. Coach Testerman is also motivated by seeing the success of her players in all aspects of their lives.
Coach Testerman is currently living in Bel Air, MD and working as an Assisted Living Manager and softball coach. A dream come true.
