If you do be sure to see one of Scott Whitlock's presentations... that man is HILARIOUS (and has a few fun trick plays that I am not sure I would be brave enough to actually attempt, but they are fun to listen to none-the-less!).

Coach ... I see where they are having Michele Smith talk about "Junk Pitches". It will be interesting to hear what she has to say about throwing a screwball !!! lol.

I know several kids that are working with Megan Hube and they are learning a lot and really enjoy working with her.

I think the GW will have to miss the Be The Best clinic. There is nothing there that interests this softball enthusiast. Ken Erickson on pitching? All he knows about pitching is that he can't get one good enough to win anything. Karen Weekly? Puhleeese. Her choice of husband should tell you a lot about her. Michelle Smith discussing "Junk" pitches. What is a junk pitch anyway? Anything with the term Junk associated with it sounds like trash. Does she mean slow pitches? Is she discussing change ups? Or is she talking about the ultimate junk pitch the screwball? I don't know and I don't care. Does Cat Osterman throw Junk? It amazes me what people in this game will pay for and listen to and think that they learned something. I'd rather stay at home and go to a relic's clinic down at Bachman. Defender of the Board

You forgot one of the best parts, the vendors! You get equipment at a discounted rate.
It's like any other clinic, take what information you can from it.

CMW..hard to tell if you are being sarcastic with the bent arm comment. If a pitcher doesn't have a slight bend in her arm she is risking injury. Also, the arm needs to be bent during the pitch. it also helps with some" Whip" action from 9 oclock (looking at pitcher from 3rd base,RH) that will increase the speed of the pitch.

It's kind of an inside joke with some of the posters....

Dear Sbdad10, I have checked with the local authorities who have been teaching pitching for the last hundred years or so around here, and they advocate throwing with the arm in an elongated circle so that you can get the maximum speed from the arm. They say it has worked for all of their students so there is no need to introduce these new fangled methods. Defender of the Old School

Straight arm and a different motion for each pitch is how you do it.

SBdad, if parents see the straight arm comment in my post and are going to local pitching instructors they will have the same information. I don't see the conflict. Defender of the Board
